When moving from one home to another, it may require some disassembling of items to get them through doorways or to haul them. When the removal of legs on furniture is necessary to move it, put all of the parts together. Wrap all of the legs in a soft cloth and use a small medicine bottle to keep all of the screws with the legs. After arriving at the new location, all of the parts, including the hardware are altogether.
Disassemble as little as possible. Disassemble large items such as an entertainment center into two parts if possible; this will make it easier to reassemble later on. Be aware that many bookcases, desks and furniture are a pressboard material. After disassembling these, many times there is damage to the existing screw holes. Always try to move this type of furniture as little as possible. If there is no other option other than moving them as a whole unit, try to support them by wrapping them with cardboard and taping with strong tape before moving them. By keeping all of the parts together, including the small pieces will reduce the stress of trying to find parts when it’s time to reassemble.
